LOHRI 2021
Lohri and Makarsankranti - The auspicious festivals of India were celebrated by the students of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir High School, Dugri on Jan 13, 2021 with full zeal and exuberance. Ms. Baljinder Kaur (Primary Teacher) gave her warm wishes to all and shared the importance of the festival and told that this festival announces the end of winters and is a traditional welcome of longer days and sun’s journey towards the northern hemisphere. She also added that the bonfire lit on Lohri night engulfs in it the vices of jealousy, arrogance, maliciousness etc. She joyfully mentioned the tradition of kite flying on this festival and refrained children from using Chinese thread for safety purposes. Various spell binding cultural activities were planned for the classes. Students of Primary Section had a gala time as they tapped their feet on punjabi folk songs and gave mesmerizing performances. Showcasing their marvellous oratory skills, students of Primary Section recited poems on Makarsankranti. Manpreet Kaur and Ravinder Kaur sang a melodious song supporting the idea of a Lohri for the Girl Child. Thus, the festivals were celebrated to encourage the students to value their cultural heritage.
May the bonfire give you warmth and joys of life, rewari and gacchak bring sweetness to your relationships, moongphali and till add crispness to your actions and the kite of your success soar high into the sky.
